Catching ‘Em, Cooking ‘Em, Keeping ‘Em with Pam McElroy and Anna Russo

October 19 @ 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Cooked Chanterelles

Pam McElroy and Anna Russo

Lincoln County Mycological Society members will share techniques for sustainable harvesting and treatment of main choice edible wild mushrooms to maximize their potential in the kitchen. The discussion and handouts will cover how to clean, dry, freeze, and cook them in safe but delicious ways. Following the talk, you’ll get a chance to sample some mushroom delights straight from the kitchen.

About the speakers:
Pam McElroy – “I was introduced to mushrooming as a child in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  Oh, the joy of coming home with grocery sacks of morels and introducing them to butter and garlic.  YUM!   I also lived in Colorado for 25 years and became a major bolete-ivore.  I finally ended up in Oregon which is without a doubt MUSHROOM NIRVANA, and I have learned so much more about mushrooms, and cooking them, and keeping them.  Mushrooming is a major joy of my life!”
