Beginner to Intermediate Mycology Walks – Learn mushroom basics with the leader highlighting identification of common edible and toxic mushrooms. You will also be introduced to how to approach mushroom identification, the importance of taxonomy (scientific classification and naming), and tips to continue your exploration of the world of mycology.
The meeting location is specified by the walk time. Limited bus transportation will be available for the walks. For bus transportation, meet outside the Mushroom Exhibition and Identification Hall at the Yachats Pavilion behind the Commons ten minutes before the bus departure time. The bus leaves promptly, so you will need to make your own way if you miss it. Please note that should you choose to drive yourself, parking at Cape Perpetua has a day parking fee of $5. Very limited parking is available behind the art galleries near the Gerdemann Botanic Preserve or at the Smelt Sands State Park parking lot.
Note that half of the sign-up slots are available online, and half will be available by stopping by the Mushroom Identification Hall at the Yachats Pavilion behind the Commons. If the walk is noted as “sold out” online, be sure to stop by the Mushroom Identification Hall during the festival because spots are still likely available.
